Domestic power rates in Goa hiked by 10-25 Paise per unit from April 1

After facing the brunt of rising fuel prices, now locals must shoulder the rising cost of electricity. Goa electricity department has notified the new power tariff hike for different categories of consumers. The hike for domestic consumers rages from 10 paise/unit to 25 paise/unit. The hike will be effective from the 1st of April.
The Joint Electricity regulatory commission, which regulates the power sector in Goa and union territories has approved a nearly 8% increase in power tariff for domestic consumers. Existing rates will hold good Residential, Industrial and Commercials Complexes as well as commercial and industrial (low tension) consumers, while hotels will also see a per unit rise in tariff.
