The Chicalim Sub-District Hospital has a common ward for male, female, children and maternity patients.

Also the Health Officer posted there is looking after two hospitals at the same time. This has raised the ire of local sand activists alike. Here are the details.

Social activist Tara Kerkar said this hospital serves entire Mormugao Taluka. Besides wards, the toilet is also common for men and women.

She alleged that the Health Officer stationed at old health center at Baina and the Chicalim hospital. And he is always unavailable.

Machines are not yet shifted and doctors are irregular. Mormugao councillor Saifullah Khan said the old health center at Baina is functioning. But its of no use as the doctors were shifted to the new Sub district hospital.

The Baina health center is neglected and the new sub district hospital is of no use, they allege.

Health Officer Dr Rajendra Borkar admitted that all the patients were being admitted into one ward. He says this is because of lack of staff, even though they have different wards for males, females, maternity and pediatrics.

Dr Borkar admitted that he is a Health Officer but holding additional charge of sub district hospital.
