Assaulted and robbed, 2 tourists recount horror dance bar visit

Moving on. Two tourists from Maharashtra became victim of assault and robbery in a Calangute pub. While tourism significantly contributes to the state's revenue, the safety of tourists especially in so called dance bars, - which officially do not exist -has been brought into question once more with this incident. Two tourists from Maharashtra were allegedly deceived and robbed after they were went to a  watering hole in Calangute. The victims claim that they were led into a room, physically assaulted, and their money stolen. Ironically they did not report to the police, but finally approached the media. Goa365 spoke with both tourists for their account of the incident. Listen.

Unfortunately, the incident is not an isolated one. Several such cases have been reported in state. While police have nabbed the accused and recovered the money, the question that remains is whether the state can afford such incidents. As said by one of the victims, a crackdown on dance bars and touts is the need of the hour.
