There is a major breakthrough in overcoming the crisis that has hit Goa’s tourism due to sudden shutdown of Thomas Cook coming from UK. Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has assured Goa hoteliers to start London-Goa direct flight by Air India twice a week before season begins in November.

The most hit with the Thomas Cook shutdown were the small and big hoteliers of Goa, which were getting around 60,000 charter tourists from UK.

They were staying in Goa for not less than 14 to 21 weeks. A delegation of Small & Medium Hoteliers Association led by its President Serafin Cota met CM Dr Sawant on Thursday late evening.

He told them that Goa’s tourism secretary is already in Delhi to finalise the details of starting a direct London-Goa flight to get these regular tourists, twice a week.
