The Chandrayaan-3 has sent its first findings of the lunar surface temperature of the South Pole. Quite surprisingly, the findings revealed that temperatures at ‘icy’ south pole of the moon were as high as 70 degrees Celsius! The ISRO has now informed of their upcoming mission to study the sun

ISRO scientists on Sunday said they got some unexpected results after the Chandrayaan-3 measured a high of 70 degree Celsius on the lunar surface. Reacting to the finding, ISRO scientist BH Darukesha said that they were expecting temperatures within the range of 20 to 30 degrees but the 70 degrees is surprisingly high. The scientist further said that on earth we hardly see a 2-3 degree variation in temperatures but on the moon there’s about a 50 degree difference in temperatures between different places.

Meanwhile, ISRO has announced launch details of its upcoming mission to study the Sun. The mission which has been named Aditya L1 is scheduled for September 2, 2023 from Sriharikota. Aditya L1 will be India’s first space-based mission to study the sun. The spacecraft shall be placed in a halo orbit around the Lagrange point 1 of the Sun-Earth system, which is about 1.5 million km from the Earth. The suits of Aditya L1 payloads are expected to provide most crucial information to understand the problem of coronal heating, coronal mass ejection, pre-flare and flare activities and their characteristics, dynamics of space weather, propagation of particle and fields etc.
