Due to this confusion, South Goa Collector has temporarily stopped the work of installing new number plates.

There was a big uproar over HSRP in Fatorda on Thursday. Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai immediately rushed there.

He said this compulsion is nothing but a day light robbery by government in collusion with the UP-based contractor. He calls it a big scam.

But the contractor claims that he has installed new number plates as per the terms and condition laid down by the central government.

In fact he complains that Goa government has not provided him the facilities he had asked for.

When assistant director of transport Milind Arlekar reached the spot, he also confirmed that these number plates are not as per the norms.

They are illegal and vehicles would face challan for these plates.

The Mamlatdar finally told the RTO to file a police complaint against the contractor and put him behind the bars.
