Chandrayaan-3: ISRO Vikram lander successfully separates from Propulsion Module

The Indian Space Research Organization on Thursday successfully separated the Lunar Module from the Propulsion module of the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft



The Lunar Module will now descend to a slightly lower orbit upon a deboosting planned for Friday at 4pm, informed ISRO

The Lander Module of Chandrayaan-3 comprising theVikram Lander and Pragyan Rover successfully separated from the propulsion module on Thursday. However, the propulsion module will continue its orbit around the Moon.

TheVikram Lander Module is scheduled to make a soft landing on the South Polar Region of moon on August 23, upon which the 6-wheeler Pragyan Rover will gather data on the elemental composition of the atmosphere. The rover has instruments configured with payloads to provide data related to the Moon’s surface.
