In a significant diplomatic move, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with his Greek counterpart Mitsotakis, marking the first visit by a Greek premier to India in 16 years. The discussions aimed to strengthen the strategic partnership formed during Modi's visit to Athens last year, the first by an Indian premier in four decades.



Prime Minister Mitsotakis' visit underscores the deepening ties between India and Greece. Both leaders explored avenues for enhanced cooperation, spanning defence manufacturing, trade, and connectivity. The key focus was on the swift finalization of a migration and mobility pact.

: Prime Minister Modi highlighted the potential for collaboration in defence industries, building on India's efforts in joint development and production of military hardware. The leaders expressed their commitment to concluding the migration and mobility partnership agreement promptly.

Mitsotakis emphasized the importance of India in the Indo-Pacific, describing it as a "main pillar of stability and security." He urged for a doubling of trade between the two countries by 2030, showcasing the shared commitment to establishing strong partnerships

Modi and Mitsotakis identified new opportunities in pharmaceuticals, agriculture, medical devices, technology, innovation, and space. The leaders also discussed ways to boost cooperation in shipping and connectivity, aiming to inject new energy into their collaboration.The deepening cooperation in defence and security reflects the mutual trust between the oldest and largest democracies.
